Storing Wool Through a Damp Summer

Storing Wool Through a Damp Summer — from the Sliabh Wool journal, the notebook of a small-batch knitter of Irish wool beanies: what the wool does, what the needles do, what the weather does to both.

Donegal yarn keeps its flecks because the colour is carded in, not dyed on; a ribbed brim holds where a rolled one drifts; a beanie blocked over a bowl keeps its crown, and one blocked over a radiator keeps nothing. The journal runs a little of each: patterns, wool, care and repair, and notes from the two coasts the wool comes from.

Sliabh Wool is a fictional maker on a test site used by GoodToGo Media’s analytics platform; there is nothing for sale here.
